As many of you know - and some of you may not - I am headed to Pat Parelli's ranch in Pagosa Springs, CO for the summer. Yep that's right, the whole, entire summer - all 12 weeks. I will be leaving May 16th from Rupert, ID and then (maybe haha) leaving Pagosa August 18th.
I was able to do this due to major financial help from my parents ($ they had set aside for my college education) and for that I am extremely grateful!
Although some say that everything happens for a reason and "it's all good", when my horse went lame a couple of weeks ago, that is a month before I leave, I became a little less sure of that phrase. I am headed to Nampa, ID in a few days to go play with an 'extra' horse that I might be able to take to Pagosa as a 'spare' in case my mare, Jetta, becomes lame again. I feel fairly confident that she will be ready to go for the first course in May, but I'd hate for her to get hurt 1/2 way through and not have a backup.
The gal in Nampa is actually an instructor at Parelli's Ranch, and it is her sister's horse that I might us. Blackish Bay QH mare that is a Right Brain Introvert...so we'll see how that all plays out!
I plan on this being the first of many blogs throughout the summer...but I am unsure as to exactly how much time/energy I will have to maintain this once I'm there...
Either way, I KNOW I will learn lots (some that I probably will wish I hadn't haha) and I will come back with LOTS of information!
See you down the road - remember to enjoy the journey -
